Dusk Till Dawn

Our annual Dusk Till Dawn event returns on 26th September 2026 with the The Seaside Switchback, an unforgettable overnight endurance challenge that brings together adventure, community and purpose.

In true Nimsdai Foundation style, we're bringing the mountaineering spirit to the Dorset coastline. As part of the Seaside Switchback, participants will take on a 22-mile challenge from Poole Quay to Hengistbury Head, tackling all 21 beach access paths by climbing to the clifftop before descending back to the beach. Along the way, you will earn your 14 Peaks and 7 Summits.

Setting off after sunset, participants will experience Dorset's spectacular coastline in a way few ever do. Guided by the glow of headtorches beneath a star-filled sky, you will climb, descend and push forward alongside fellow adventurers, accompanied by the peaceful sounds of the coast as you journey through the night, watching the sunrise from Hengistbury Head.

Start Time:

Dusk (est - 9.30pm) - Join your fellow hikers for a warm up, chat and register your arrival. Start the hike and head into the night.

The Route:

Starting at dusk, you'll journey 22 miles along Dorset's spectacular coastline, tackling all the beach access paths by climbing to the clifftop before descending back to the beach. Along the way, you'll experience the coastline under a star-filled sky, spot nocturnal wildlife, and earn your 14 Peaks and 7 Summits before reaching the finish at sunrise.

Finish Line:

Arrive at Hengistbury Head as the sun rises over the coast before making your way to the Hiker's Café (https://hikercafe.co.uk/), where you can purchase a well-earned bacon roll and hot brew alongside your fellow hikers.
