Disaster Relief:
Pakistan Floods

Building back stronger communities

Pakistan floods 2022

In May 2022 a glacial lake outburst washed through the area, destroying a key bridge; the situation got worse over the summer as flood waters destroyed more than 1,000 homes and more than 500,000 sqm of agricultural land.

Our teams work with emergency support teams in Pakistan by funding and transporting flour, rice and food to the Nagar Valley in the Gilgit, Baltistan area. It is home to the Spantik and Hopar glaciers. The villages of Hoper, Shaeen and Gorgot had been the worst hit by the recent floods.

Over the festive period the Nimsdai Foundation team in Pakistan continued to assist with the flood relief support, visiting families affected by the flooding and delivering aid. The team has worked tirelessly not only to deliver immediate aid but to find out what future assistance may be required, looking at infrastructure, road access and support to those in remote villages. This has proved difficult at times due to the arrival of winter and the snow conditions, which restricted some of the supply movement.

The impact and lives saved by our collective action and response to this disaster is huge.
