Supporting education and changing lives through scholarships

For many, education is taken for granted, a given, a right. But in many parts of the world, education is a rare gift, a lifeline and a path to a brighter future, not just for the child but for their family and community. Sadly, too many children are still limited due to this lack of access to education, limitations placed on them through circumstance, not by potential.

At the Nimsdai Foundation, we believe that education is key to securing the future of the Big Mountain communities by raising aspiration, both for the individuals but also for their communities. Key to this educational vision is the provision of scholarships. Most schools in Nepal work on a paid basis, and by providing scholarships, we can help give an education to those who might otherwise not have the opportunity.

Nimsdai Foundation’s funding of year-on-year school scholarships continues to transform lives, opening doors to education, opportunity, and success for young minds. These scholarships don’t just support students; they uplift families and communities.  These students, many of whom come from disadvantaged communities, now have the opportunity to break free from the cycles of poverty and carve their own paths in life.  By educating the bright minds of tomorrow, we’re fostering growth and progress for generations to come.

Nimsdai Foundation scholarship case study: Jaishnavi, aged 8

Jaishnavi, 8, has received a scholarship from the Nimsdai Foundation to allow her to attend a quality school in Kathmandu. Due to her mother’s personal situation, she is now caring for her two daughters alone. Sharmila was introduced to the Nimsdai Foundation’s work through a friend and was able to apply for Jaishnavi’s scholarship. She said: “Seeing Jaishnavi grow and develop after attending such a school has truly made my heart happy. I wouldn’t have been able to afford to send her to school or see her reach this level without the support of the Nimsdai Foundation. I am incredibly proud of her progress.”

Jaishnavi said she loved her school and that the teachers were really friendly. She said: “My favourite sport is basketball, and my favourite subject is arts and crafts. I love science also. I want to be a doctor, I want to look after my mother and my sister. Thank you Nimsdai and Nimsdai Foundation.”
